So I've been on the road quite a bit more this last year and throughout my journeys I've developed a healthy habit of jotting down ideas or poems and even sometimes just journals when the time feels right. Up late one night in Hawaii, my friend Moriel and I spent hours sharing with each other things we had written over the past few years and this sparked an idea:
There's no way that all of these thoughts turned into words can become tangible pieces of art, maybe 5% become song lyrics but there's too much coming out to possibly use it all. But then I thought, man if I could see some of my favorite artists' journaling on the road and odd poems here and there, I'd be incredibly interested in reading into that. So thus the decision came that I will start sharing some of these odd writings with my fans who may be interested in digging a bit deeper than the music.
Additionally, I've found myself more and more interested in the business and marketing strategies that bring success to a DIY artist. There have been some musicians that have contacted me seeking advice on various things and I've been happy to share tips that I've picked up over the past few years of releasing music and touring. I always make to contact those who are further along than me that I trust to assist with my major decisions in my career. I think this blog will be a great platform for fans and fellow musicians can ask any questions on the business or creative sides of my music and I will attempt to answer to the best of my ability.
So whether its a short poem, a small fictional story, a journal of a wild day's event on tour, or just advice on how to get music to the people, this will be a blog that's basically full of my thoughts and creative expression. I hope to interact with my fans on a regular basis here and I hope you will all let me know what you're interested in seeing in my writing by emailing me at management@dacotamuckey.com.
